The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that something was missing in the music selection.

This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition composed by artist the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of the same name, the second one released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening fails to capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was catchy and fun. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my phone. It's a song that excites you before you start an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but based on my understanding of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
