An esteemed Russian military figure has been killed following an detonation in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The incident happened on Monday morning when an explosive device planted beneath a vehicle detonated, causing the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov held the position of the head of the armed forces' department for training operations.

The committee mentioned that one theory under investigation involves the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Ukraine has offered no public response.
