Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, adding that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order placed a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public figures shared different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide should have acted when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
