British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the boxing community shared sympathy for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
