Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists contributing to Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The song blends a mix of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The team running the project have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
