Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell like this with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
