Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the jet's front window, according to an announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet landed in accordance with established safety measures and all passengers, including Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a online announcement.
He was traveling back from a short visit to the city of Brussels when the incident occurred.
This incident isn't the first time that a American defense plane ferrying a top government figure has suffered mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was required to return to Washington after encountering a technical issue.
